JESSE MERLIN (President Dodgeson)

Jesse Merlin is delighted to make his Los Angeles debut as President of the USA in The Beastly Bombing, adding to the long list of comic buffoons he’s performed.

He completed four years as Principal Artist-in-Residence at Opera San Joséin June 2006.  His many roles there included Leporello in Don Giovanni, Colline in La bohème, Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro, Frank in Die Fledermaus, the title role in Don Pasquale, Ferrando in il Trovatore, and Méphistophélès in the Gounod Faust.

An enthusiast of new works, Merlin made his international debut in June 2005 in Paris with the world premiere of Le Terrain Vague at the Théâtre du Rond Point and the Théâtre Lucernaire.  He also created the role of the Sexually Abusive Grandfather in the world premiere of the lesbian serial killer opera WUORNOS at the Yerba Buena Center in 2001.

He sings Marquis d’Obigny in Martinez Opera’s La traviata in December 2006, and makes his Sacramento Opera debut as Zuniga in Carmen in February 2007.

In addition to the standard repertoire, Merlin works broadly in the realm of vaudeville and burlesque.  He sang at the Exotic Erotic Ball in San Francisco in front of over 12,000 people, and performed at the Hollywood Bowl as the Criminologist in the 30th anniversary celebration of The Rocky Horror Picture Show before a crowd of 9,000.  He has substantial experience performing the Gilbert & Sullivan canon, having sung leading bass roles in The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore, Iolanthe and Princess Ida.

Merlin trained at the New York University drama studio Playwrights’ Horizons, and studied classical voice with Sheri Greenawald, John Duykers, Gregory Stapp, Dr. David Rohrbaugh and Peter Van Derick.

JOHN QUALE (Jesus/Lead Sailor)
John was a very annoying child who sang incessantly (not much has changed) until his parents had no choice except to put him in various choirs at a very young age.  Eventually he became member of the children's choir for the Washington Opera at the Kennedy Center (it's been all downhill since then).  He continued his studies at Interlochen Arts Camp, and touring with musicals throughout high school.  During college in Chicago he continued performing in plays and musicals. He had a brief and fruitless career as a fashion model (WORK!), and was the lead singer for the synth-pop band Endora (many tragic haircuts ensued).  In Los Angeles he studies musical theater at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and private voice with Derek Graydon.  Recently he has rediscovered his love of opera when out of nowhere appeared Prince Poppycock.  The Prince has been seen trilling across the stages of Club Dandy, The Dresden Dolls, Ann Magnuson, and Jer Ber Jones.  John is pleased to be rejoining The Beastly Bombing and is excited to reprise the role of Jesus.

DARRIN REVITZ (Clarissa Alternate)

After spending summers in New York at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts, Darrin continued her formal training on the East Coast and graduated with honors from Syracuse University’s Department of Drama. Additionally, Darrin trained and performed at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, New York and the British American Dramatic Academy in Oxford, England.

Darrin made her Broadway debut last year with Linda Eder in her concert at The Palace Theatre.
Most recently, Darrin appeared in the successful West Coast premiere of Kirsten Childs’s The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds her Chameleon Skin. Past favorite roles include "Jules" in the 10th Anniversary production of St. Elmo's Fire, the West Coast premiere of Like You Like It, and Sneaux!, the SINsational gothic horror figure skating musical at The Matrix Theatre. Darrin appeared on David E. Kelley’s Girl’s Club and The Chelsea Handler Show. Her voice can be heard as Tris in Full Cast Audio’s Circle of Magic series.

Darrin is thrilled and honored to be part of the clever chaos that is The Beastly Bombing. Thank you Julien, Roger, Rorry and Meredith for the opportunity.

Love and thanks to family and friends, all the girls for being there, Josh for being the best big brother and to Mom and Dad for all the "fortune cookie wisdom" and loving offensive, politically incorrect musical theatre. In time, more will be revealed.

NATALIE SALINS* (Secretary of State)
Natalie Salins recently filmed The Believers for Warner Bros. and had a Guest Star role on Criminal Minds. She has also starred as Gertrude in Hamlet and Whitney in A Piece of my Heart. On the NY stage she has starred as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof. She has played Ellen Mahoney on ABC's All My Children. In 1996 Natalie sang for President Clinton at The Kennedy Center. She gives a special thanks to Kara and her family for their ongoing love and support.
RYAN SCOTT SELF* (Cop/Secret Service/
Reporter/Sailor/Frank Understudy)
Ryan considers himself one of the luckiest kids in the world, because he is living his dream as an actor and writer in Hollywood. Before jumping on board this amazing musical, Ryan has been in a whole smorgasbord of theatre shows. Some of the best have been Christmas Carol, Servant of Two Masters, Big River, The Unexpected Man and Picasso at the Lapin Agile. He recently made his TV debut with a co-star role on NBC's Medium. After leaving his college improv troupe, BBQ Kitten (which he founded), he helped found a theatre/film/sketch-comedy/improv hybrid troupe called Camerashrapnel, which has seen much success. While he has already seen his plays both produced and

published, he is now in talks about producing several of his film scripts. Gulp! Ryan would like to thank this great crew of Bomber's for letting him crash their party, his mommy, and God.

With Circle X Theatre Co. of Hollywood, Sidney has appeared in A SWEET DEAL, his own full-length solo show.  With the Sacred Fools Theater of Los Angeles, he's appeared in the title role of PEER GYNT; as well as the mainstage productions DUBYA 2004, DUBYA 2000, CRAZYFACE, and TELL THE BEES (the first three of which received "Pick of the Week" from the LA Weekly).  Sidney can be seen in supporting roles in the feature films BARSTOW 2008, KILLER BUD, and THE VELOCITY OF GARY; and as the lead in the short film THE WAGER.  Onstage in Seattle (his home town), he appeared in THE DUCHESS OF MALFI (as Ferdinand); SAINT JOAN and RELATIVE VALUES with Greek Active; A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (Lysander) with Wooden O; and several of the original works of director Derek Horton (CAT-LIKE TREAD, PIMPIN).  Sidney's additional plays include BENT (Horst) and THE NORMAL HEART (Felix) in Portland, Oregon; and A CHORUS LINE (Paul), THE GRAPES OF WRATH (Tom Joad), WEST SIDE STORY (Riff), and LA BOHÈME (singing Schaunard) in Bellingham, Washington.  In addition to acting, Sidney sings, writes (prose and dialogue, fiction and non-), composes music, directs (often for SERIAL KILLERS at Sacred Fools), and produces theatre.  He also occasionally analyzes and helps to develop scripts (the result of a two-year stint as Literary Director for Circle X at the turn of the millennium); including DUBYA 2004, SCHADENFREUDE, and ELECTROPUSS.  A life-long fan of the Seattle Mariners, Sidney would like to be known as the Ichiro of theatre.

Russell Steinberg is most well known as his Alter-ego Johnny Fayva, for whom he is currently developing a show with MTV.  He is thrilled to be part of such a smart and funny show and thanks you all for coming.

Prior to becoming an über producer, Rorry worked as a slave to a very important and manly Hollywood agent, who taught her much about handling diverse personalities.  Rorry has made plays as a writer, actor and director since childhood. Although she keeps swearing off theatre and then crawling back like a beaten puppy, she promises this time her love is for real (Rorry does not endorse beating puppies). Everything she is begins with Kevin, who deserves all thanks but needs none.

As one of the newest members of BB production team, Julianne is no stranger to theater. At the tender age of seventeen Julianne discovered that, though her love for the art was deep, she would not become the next Rita Moreno. Luckily for her, Julianne soon realized that she would make a fabulous stage manager. With over a dozen productions under her belt, Julianne is excited to be adding Beastly Bombing to her list of productions.

JILL MCGRAW (Production Designer)

"The Beastly Bombing" marks Jill McGraw's second collaboration with Nitzberg and Neill after the white trash black comedy film "Bury Me in Kern County". Her career in underground theater design began   literally in a basement at Chicago's legendary Club Lower Links,   where she met Co-Production Designer Matthew Owens.  Her most recent art department credits include "The Devil and Daniel Johnston",   "Arrested Development" and "Entourage"
KEVIN REMINGTON (Choreographer)
A Golden State native, Kevin Remington has performed in, directed and choreographed productions in New York, Los Angeles, Florence, Italy and Amman, Jordan. As an actor and musical theater performer, he has appeared in regional and touring productions of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, MAME, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, GUYS AND DOLLS, HELLO, DOLLY! , ROMEO & JULIET, EDWARD II, and THE 1940'S RADIO HOUR. He’s also done his time in the theme park racket – appearing as a dim-witted sorcerer’s apprentice in Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s THE ENCHANTED LABORATORY. He studied voice, classical and musical theatre dance at the Atlantic Foundation for the Performing Arts under Ruth Petrinovic, Allen Hill, Joyce Hall and Michael Scott Gregory. He is also a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts/West in Los Angeles. Aside from THE BEASTLY BOMBING, favorite directing and choreography projects include: LAST TRAIN TO NIBROC, TORCH SONG TRILOGY, YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU and ROMEO & JULIET, among others. Closest to his heart is HAYWIRE! Kevin co-authored, directed and choreographed HAYWIRE!’s Los Angeles premiere production, about which the LAWeekly declared “Gruesomely funny…GO!” Most recently, he choreographed dances for G4TV’s “XPlay: The Musical,” another in a recent spate of wildly silly ventures which are becoming his stock in trade. Thanks and props to Rorry, Julien and Roger and the entire TBB cast, staff and crew! Kevin currently lives in Los Angeles and urges Beastly Bombers everywhere to unite in the romantic and stylishly flippant anarchy of song and dance.

SUSAN MATHESON (Costume Designer)

Susan Matheson met Julien Nitzberg when she was a young impressionable teenager. She tried to escape his evil clutches by moving to Los Angeles where she began designing clothes for Barbie. Eventually tiring of designing clothes that had to fit people under 12 inches, Susan began working in the film industry where the bodies were small but the heads were big. She was the costume designer for Blue Crush, Friday Night Lights, Talladega Nights and the upcoming The Kingdom.

As the acclaimed inventor of the Trident Nuclear Submarine, the Jarvic Artificial Heart, and the HOV lane, Jason White found success in Hollywood with his directorial debut, “Titanic” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Previously, White struggled as a writer in various literary formats producing such works as “The Naked and the Dead,”“Gravity’s Rainbow,” and “Little Lulu #31.” Jason
finds heading the radio promotions campaign for Beastly” a respite from his otherwise hectic schedule.
